Therapy session by video call, on a computer screen

Video sessions have settled into many therapy practices. For the client, it should be simple: one click, without hunting for the link in their emails. For you, it should be manageable without creating a link by hand for every appointment. Zenpage relies on Zoom or Google Meet for this.

Choose the provider

In the settings, Video conferencing tab, choose the default tool: Zoom or Google Meet. This choice is used for automatically created links. If you use both, choose the one you open most often for your sessions: it's the one you'll forget least.

Enter the credentials

Each provider requires an app that you create in its developer area. For Zoom, you enter the account ID, client ID and client secret. For Google Meet, the client ID, client secret and redirect address. These values give access to your video account: don't share them and don't paste them in a shared document.

Keep the secret out of messages

The client secret is a password. If you think it has been exposed, regenerate it at the provider, then update the field in the settings.

First option: a fixed link per service, for example a personal room you always keep open. It is then sent with every booking of that service. Second option: a link created for each appointment, from the appointment's page, as soon as the date is upcoming. An appointment-specific link limits access to a single session.

What the client receives

The link appears in the confirmation message. If SMS is enabled for your account, the link is also included in the SMS, as explained in our article on SMS. Tell your client to test their access before the session, especially if it's a first video call.

Points to watch

  • If you cancel a video session, also cancel the meeting created for that appointment, so the link doesn't stay active.
  • Check the session's privacy according to your tool and your plan.

Going further

Video is set at the service level: read our guide to services, which details the "online" location type. The details of the settings are in the Services section of the documentation.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Zoom or Google account to offer video?

Yes. The link is created from your account. So you need to set up Zoom or Google Meet once, with the credentials of the app you create at the provider.

Does the client receive the link?

Yes, in the confirmation message. It can also appear in the confirmation email and, if the SMS option is active, in the SMS.

Can I use the same link for all my online sessions?

Yes, if the service has a fixed link. You can also create a link for each appointment, from the appointment's page.
