Collecting bookings online: Stripe or PayPal, settings and testing
Pro prerequisites, connecting Stripe or PayPal to your own account, small-amount test and frequent mistakes: everything to collect a booking online.

Paying at the time of booking is part of what secures an appointment: the client is committed, and you don't have to chase a bank transfer. Zenpage lets you collect these payments online, provided you connect your own Stripe or PayPal account. Here is the full procedure.
Prerequisites
Three conditions must be met. First, your subscription must include online payment: it is a feature of the Pro plan, at €19.90 excl. VAT per month, €199 excl. VAT per year or €1,490 excl. VAT for life. Then, your account must be authorized to accept payments. Finally, you need a working Stripe or PayPal Business account. The details of the plans are on the pricing page.
Connect Stripe or PayPal
- Open the payment methods configuration page, in the payment settings.
- Enable Stripe and/or PayPal, then enter the API keys (Stripe) or the email address of your PayPal Business account.
- Enable payment for bookings. If you also sell products, enable it for the shop too.
- Save, then move on to testing.
Stripe keys are sensitive: use live-mode keys only when you're ready, and never paste them in a message or shared document.
Test with a small amount
Before opening payment to your clients, book a service yourself with a small amount. Check three things: the payment goes through, the booking appears in your calendar, and you receive the confirmation email. If one is missing, don't launch.
Run the test from a phone, in private browsing. Payment errors are often tied to the mobile version or an already open session.
The most frequent mistakes
The most common: credentials are entered, but the switch is left on "off". Payment then doesn't appear, with no error message. The second is a Stripe test key left in place of the live key: no real payment goes through.
Deposit or full payment
You can collect the full service price or just a deposit. How the deposit works is explained in our dedicated article. To offer a one-off discount, see how to create a promo code.
Going further
The setup procedure is summarized in the payments documentation. If your practice also sells resources, the shop documentation details orders.
Frequently asked questions
Where does the money from payments go?
Into your own Stripe or PayPal Business account, not a Zenpage account.
Can my client pay without creating an account?
Yes. They pay at the time of booking, like on any online payment site.
Why doesn't the payment appear on my page?
Check three points: your subscription includes online payment, payment is enabled for your bookings, and the payment method (Stripe or PayPal) is enabled with valid credentials. A switch left on "off" is enough to hide it.
